Prints from the Günther and Annemarie Gercken Foundation
Günther and Annemarie Gercken have been passionate collectors of unconventional art for seventy years. They are particularly interested in prints and in existential questions of human experience. The Kupferstich-Kabinett holds the works on paper and now presents a selection of masterpieces of printmaking. Printmaking in its many forms is celebrated in radical images: woodcuts by Werner Büttner and Hubert Kiecol, Anselm Kiefer, Gustav Kluge, and Carsten Nicolai; etchings by Horst Antes, Georg Baselitz, David Hockney, Wilhelm Lehmbruck, and A. R. Penck; lithographs by Robert Mangold and Hermann Nitsch. Selected works and drawings by Monika Grzymala, Jenny Holzer, and Tomas Schmit broaden the display of graphic works.
