In a new light. 16th-century Italian drawings reconsidered

Unseen traces, surprising discoveries and fresh perspectives on old drawings: in collaboration with international colleagues, the Dresden Kupferstich-Kabinett has delved deep into its collection of more than 700 sixteenth-century Italian drawings. Stories behind the sheets were revealed, hidden features uncovered, fragments reunited, and names put to previously anonymous works. As this extensive cataloguing project approaches completion, the exhibition brings together 25 drawings that, thanks to the research undertaken, now appear in a new light.
